Creating your own Cheese Board is a lot of fun and I share a bunch of ideas in my book, Good Enough.
Today I am dedicating this class to the art and play of making a cheese/snack board. Whether it's for kids, a party or just you it is so much fun. Here are some ideas from the spread in Good Enough to help you assemble some ingredients for playing with!
- Craft a cheese-heavy board with a bit of honey and jam.
- Douse a big ball of mozzarella in pesto, and arrange spears of bell pepper and other vegetables on the sides.
- Arrange hard cheeses and sopprassata with honey, apple slices and crackers.
- Make one big, round brie-type cheese the focal point, surrounded by a pile of fruit and crackers.
- Build small mountains of fresh berries.
- Pair brightly colored, sharp, pickled vegetables with crumbly aged cheeses.
- Let yourself play with coordinating or complementary colors to create an edible art project—for example, purply red salami next to light yellow cheese, with green herb accents.
- Drizzle olive oil, honey, or even a smear of hot sauce on the cheese platter.
- Get inspiration from the seasons—both natural and human-made.
- Channel your inner child and create something to delight your younger self.
